Tableware Production
Our journey
Porcelain production in Vietnam dates back to the 15th century. Northern Vietnam is renowned for its family-run production sites, where the craft of porcelain making has been passed down through generations. The fine and pliable clay of this region gives our tableware its special quality. High-quality kaolin, a mineral-water mixture, is then poured into handmade plaster molds. The plaster extracts water from the slip, and the mineral components condense on the mold wall. The excess mixture is poured out, and after a short drying period, the mold is opened. The blanks are carefully removed from the mold and then hand-finished, smoothed, and brought into their final shape before their first firing.
After the first firing, the ceramic pieces undergo a thorough inspection, cleaning, and finishing. Before the second firing, the inside is glazed, and the Tinkalu lettering is applied, giving each piece its distinctive identity. Approximately 90% of the workforce in our production facilities are women – an aspect we are particularly proud of. Porcelain production not only has a long tradition but, above all, offers valuable opportunities for women in Vietnam. Each piece bears the unique touch of its maker and is one of a kind. Small irregularities emphasize the special charm and exclusivity of our products. Furthermore, the dinnerware is dishwasher-safe and heat-resistant – perfect for daily use.

From the curve of a handle to the way the pieces stack and transport, every detail is carefully considered so that each object feels just right the moment it reaches the table. Every piece we offer at Tinkalu is meticulously inspected by experienced craftswomen before being lovingly packaged to reach our warehouse in Germany. With Tinkalu, you bring the beauty of Vietnamese craftsmanship into your home. Discover unique, handmade products that combine timeless elegance with a fascinating history.
